Dad’s Tears, Grad’s Cheers | San Diego Photography

June is the official “dad and grad” month, it’s true. But some dads get the “double whammy” when they also have a teen who is graduating, and leaving home. For these dads, it can be an emotional time. We know that moms always need the tissues when they see their “little babies” growing into strong, capable adults, but we’re always surprised and touched to see that dads are often just as moved. We always get a kick out of watching new dads, and even ‘experienced’ dads, that will actually mist up (or, spontaneously “get something in their eye”) when we show them portraits of their new baby, young child, or high school senior! It may be the twinkle in the eye, the pensive look, or seeing their child look a little too grown up, that causes a hitch in the voice, as they catch a glimpse of the future. So – as June comes to a close, let’s cheer on the grads, and then be sure to send a little love your dad’s way!

Lovely family! Getting a big group of people together, happy, looking the same direction, being coordinated – not the easiest task. But this family did a great job. The grandkids were so darn cute and even had matching hats for some of the kids’ pictures.

Ok – this mom is just too darn cute! Nothing but belly and blue eyes! This session was particularly fun because we did the session in the home – the hardwood floors were beautiful, and natural light from the windows – good stuff! Throw in a cute puppy that’s not quite sure what’s in “the package” and it was a great time. Plus, we got a sneak peek at the baby’s room, and we can’t WAIT to photograph the newborn session at home, too! Stay tuned, we’ll be posting the newborn session shortly . . .

This spring, BlueFlair Photography is pleased to offer a limited edition spring session. Think outdoors, think vintage feeling, spring-y goodness! This session is recommended for children 2 or older. For girls, we suggest a simple white dress, or spring formal, as well as a cute-casual outfit. For boys, a classic or formal look, and/or simple overalls. This $99 special even includes (1) complimentary 8×10 or smaller print of your choice! We only have 12 appointments available at this rate, and sessions will be held on March 14 and March 16th. Samantha, a San Diego native, graduated with honors from the University of San Francisco. She has over 10 years of experience with children, and worked for a babysitting agency while in college. Now that she is back in San Diego, she has quickly built a unique babysitting service with 30 on-call sitters. Each experienced sitter is background checked, safety trained, and typically is pursuing an education in child development or the nursing field.

BlueFlair Photography and Anytime Sitter are holding a model call for children age 2 to 12 years of age on February 27, 2010. The model call will take place at TRC Gymnastics Inc from 2pm to 6pm. This is a free event. Reservations are not required, but ARE recommended. All model participants will receive a $50 studio credit, and a free trial membership from TRC Gymnastics (ask for details at the gym). Selected models may be featured in promotional materials for BlueFlair Photography and/or Anytime Sitter. Those that are called back will receive a complimentary portrait session from BlueFlair Photography, and a complimentary Basic Membership from Anytime Sitter.
