To Portfolio or Not to Portfolio
It’s hard to answer questions about what makes a good portfolio pic. Personally speaking I think the more original and artistic the better, but some say agents prefer uniformity…and let’s face it BlueFlair is just NOT about maintaining the status quo. We take everything we do and pump the power up on it! That’s not to say that everything we do is extreme, it’s just we can’t stand the “canned” photos offered by so many chain studios. Whether those chains are for standard portraits or they are who “everyone” goes to for modeling or acting portfolios, assembly-line photography is just NOT for us!
So in celebration of POWER portfolios we’re showing off some favorites from a session with my very talented brother… Jonny!
Jonny was wanting to update his portfolio, and he let us take a liberal amount of creative freedom with him! Thanks for being such a great sport, Jonny!!

Let us know what you think. The feedback is good for us and for him!

Let Them Eat Cake!
Here is one of our favorite cover babies! We’ve been following Javen since he was still in mommy’s belly and out of nowhere he’s turned one! Mom just brought him in for his final Busy Bee session, and boy is he already on the move! It took both of us plus mom and auntie to keep him in one place long enough to catch a few precious images of him. Well truth be told we all had nothing to do with keeping him still…if it weren’t for the basketball and balloon we wouldn’t have stood a chance. Daddy and Granddaddy are ball players and it looks like Javen has the ball bug too.

Even the cake paled in comparison to the other round objects flying around the room, but we finally managed to interest him in the icing on the cake…though he was more interested in “painting” on our backdrop than eating the sweet stuff.

It’s going to be hard to be separated from this special guy, but we’re hoping to see him again when he turns 2! His incredible personality and amazing genes (not the kind you wear) has made him one dynamic kid. Great job mom & dad, not to mention the rest of the fam!

Like what you see?…..Then leave us some comment love!!!
Golden Girl

Madi Rae came back to see us, and she’s as cute as ever! She whizzed through several outfit changes, and we got some really fun images! Mom was a great sport, as we all made funny faces and noises to coax a smile out of Miss Madi. Here are a handful of our favorites from the day. Enjoy mom and dad!

Bouncing Baby Girl
Here’s another cutie we had the pleasure of meeting – just look at those cheeks! Makes you want to squeeze them, irresistible . . . oh my goodness, I’m turning into my crazy Aunt Sally! Anyway – here are a couple of sneak peeks for mom. We’ll see you again soon!

Stacks of Love!

This couple has to be one of the funnest couples around. We were in stitches at their consultation, and as we got to know them, we learned that she’s a librarian and he’s a chef. So, we started percolating ideas for a fun and creative engagement session. I’m always online, admiring talented photographers, and getting fresh inspiration. I had seen a wonderful classroom engagement session, by the fabulous @millieholloman. We ran the idea past our couple to see if we could get access to the library. They loved the idea! Our groom here is a bit of a prankster, so we played up on his mischief . . . and so the story unfolds. It’s a tale of love in the “stacks” (a library term, if you’re not familiar).

He was totally complaining about the “acting”, since the book was illustrated!

Thanks you two! You were wonderful sports!! See you soon!
(Comment love appreciated.)
Bridal Suh-Weet!

Boudoir Photography

Boudoir (boo-dwar) – a strange sounding name, that’s been around for a few generations. It’s French, and means “bedroom.” Boudoir photography, also known as “glamour” or “intimate” photography is that more personal, intimate portrait session as we enter the private setting, such as the bedroom. It’s a chance for you to feel great about yourself. Many ladies find it liberating. As Miss “C” saw her images, she had a big smile on her face, and commented, “Look how sexy I look!” Women today are often too hard on themselves, only paying attention to what they view as flaws, and ignoring all the little things that make them so beautiful. Boudoir sessions are perfect as a gift for your lover, or just for you! Trying to break out of your shell? Getting over a relationship? Trying to ignite a fresh spark in your current relationship? Just met a personal fitness goal? Then consider booking a boudoir session! Of course, an album or collection of your images make a perfect gift for Father’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries, the holidays – ok, really there’s no time your guy is NOT going to love this gift!

Thanks to our wonderful families and clients – you make our job easy!! Here are this years exhibits:

My, How They Grow!

We have had the pleasure of working with Kyle since his newborn session. We’ve seen him 3 more times, as part of our Busy Bee program. Now he’s taking a few steps, and he is raring to go! We met the parents at the beach for our first outdoor session. We hit our favorite spot at La Jolla beach, and most babies have a hard time with either the feel of the sand, or the roar and splash of the ocean. Not Kyle!! He wanted to go get in that water – and the sand, apparently was good enough to eat!! We’ll miss this family, as they’re moving to Hawaii this month . . . we do have suitcases, tho!
